TRANSPORT

There are several options for getting to Flinders University at Tonsley by car, bus, train or Uber/taxi. Public transport timetables can be accessed through the Adelaide Metro website. Provided below are some directions for travelling to Tonsley from the Adelaide Airport, City (CBD) and Glenelg.​

Adelaide Airport to Flinders University Tonsley

 

Driving

  • Exit Adelaide Airport and head south on Sir Richard Williams Avenue.

  • Merge onto Sir Donald Bradman Drive/A6 via the ramp to City.

  • Continue on Sir Donald Bradman Drive for approximately 6 km.

  • Take a right onto South Road/A13.

  • Continue on South Road for about 8 km.

  • Take the exit toward Sturt Road/Tonsley Boulevard.

  • Merge onto Tonsley Boulevard.

  • Continue on Tonsley Boulevard, and you will reach Flinders University Tonsley Campus.

 

Taxi/rideshare

  • Upon exiting Adelaide Airport, you can easily find taxi stands, the rideshare area is next to the Europcar, see map below.

  • The address to enter into a rideshare app is: Flinders University Tonsley, 1284 South Rd, Clovelly Park, SA 5042. Most rideshare services will charge $25-$35 for this journey.

Public Transport

  • The J1 or J2 bus will take you into the city, where you can then catch the train (Flinders line) to Tonsley. The Tonsley University campus is visible from the train station and is a very short walk.

  • Most public transport in Adelaide will require a Metrocard or single paper ticket to travel. These can be purchased from the bus stop at Adelaide airport.

Adelaide CBD to Flinders University Tonsley

 

Driving

  • Head South on King William Street.

  • Turn right onto Sturt Street.

  • Continue onto Anzac Highway/A5.

  • Merge onto South Road/A13 via the ramp to Flinders Medical Centre.

  • Take the exit toward Sturt Road/Tonsley Boulevard.

  • Merge onto Tonsley Boulevard.

  • Continue on Tonsley Boulevard until you reach Flinders University Tonsley Campus.

 

Taxi/rideshare

  • The address to enter into a rideshare app is: Flinders University Tonsley, 1284 South Rd, Clovelly Park, SA 5042. Most rideshare services will charge $20-$30 for this journey.

 

Public Transport

  • Walk or take the free tram to the Adelaide Railway Station on North Terrace.

  • From Adelaide Railway Station, catch a Flinders line train towards Flinders.

  • Ride the train to the Tonsley Railway Station.

  • The Tonsley University campus is visible from the train station and is a very short walk.

Glenelg to Flinders University Tonsley

 

Driving

  • Head East on Jetty Road toward the City.

  • Turn right onto Brighton Road.

  • Continue on Brighton Road for approximately 550 metres.

  • Turn left onto Diagonal Rd.

  • Stay on Diagonal Rd for approximately 1.6 kilometres.

  • Turn left onto Oaklands Rd.

  • Stay on Oaklands Rd for approximately 2.5 kilometres.

  • Turn right onto Marion Rd.

  • Stay on Marion Rd for approximately 1.6 kilometres.

  • Turn left onto Alawoona Avenue.

  • Continue for approximately 700 metres and you will see the Tonsley campus in front of you.

 

Taxi/rideshare

  • The address to enter into a rideshare app is: Flinders University Tonsley, 1284 South Rd, Clovelly Park, SA 5042. Most rideshare services will charge $15-$20 for this journey.

 

Public Transport

  • Take the tram from Jetty Road towards the City to Stop 4, Forestville.

  • At Goodwood you will need to change from tram to train, this is roughly a 7 minute walk following the tram line. You will then see the train line and Goodwood station on your left.

  • Catch a Flinders line train and get off at Tonsley.

  • The Tonsley University campus is visible from the train station and is a very short walk.

Flinders University Tonsley to Flinders University Bedford Park

 

  • The Flinders University campuses are located within 3 km of each other, and are easy to travel between.

  • By car, exit Flinders University Tonsley and turn right onto South Road. Ensure that you stay right (do not enter the expressway) and stay on South Road/Main South Road until you get to Sturt Road. Turn left at Sturt Road, and then keep right to enter University Drive. Following University Drive will join you onto the Ring Road which surrounds the Bedford Park campus.

  • By rideshare, enter the address: Flinders University, Sturt Rd, Bedford Park, SA 5042. Most rideshare services will charge $10-$15 for this journey.

  • By public transport, you can catch the free Tonsley loop bus which connects the two campuses. This is a free service which operates from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. These buses arrive and depart both campuses regularly, but you can download the BusMinder App and use the login details below to track your bus in real time (Username: loopbus@flinders.edu.au Password: loopbus)

 

Parking

 

  • Parking is free at the Tonsley campus. Please do not park in car park 2 (P2), as this is reserved for students and staff of Flinders University. Please instead park in car park 4 (P4) next to the train station, see map below:

  • If parking at Beford Park (e.g. for the Awards Function), you will need to pay for casual parking.

  • There are two ways to buy visitor parking:

  1. Use the parking machines in car parks.

  2. Use CellOPark – Flinders University’s online parking system.

    • This can be accessed via the CellOPark app, online at www.cellopark.com.au, or by calling +61 1300 467 275.
